World Interfaith Harmony Week Webinar – Day 6

Focus on Buddhism and the Baha’i Faith

The session concluded with words of gratitude to all speakers and participants, along with an invitation to join the final day of the Interfaith Harmony Week celebrations.

The session featured a presentation on the Baha’i Faith, including a devotional prayer song and

a keynote address by Mr. Nicholas J. Bridgewater, who spoke on the unification of humanity and the vision of global oneness central to Baha’i teachings. A Baha’i music video further enriched the presentation.

The sixth day once again reaffirmed the Chavara Cultural Centre’s commitment to fostering unity in diversity through dialogue, cultural exchange, and shared spiritual values.

A panel discussion led by students and faculty from Saint Xavier’s College of Management and Technology, Patna, explored Buddhist teachings on love, truth, fraternity, justice, and the influence of art and culture in promoting peace.

The programme began with a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, Mayor Tom Aditya, and distinguished guests including Venerable Pasura Dantamano and Venerable Ananda Bhante representing Buddhism, and Mr. Nicholas J. Bridgewater representing the Baha’i Faith. A heartfelt tribute was also paid to the legendary singer Srimati Lata Mangeshkar in recognition of her cultural contribution to unity and harmony.

The focus then shifted to Buddhism with a traditional prayer chant, followed by insightful reflections from Venerable Pasura Dantamano and Venerable Ananda Bhante. They elaborated on Buddhist perspectives on compassion, truthfulness, justice, equality, and universal brotherhood. A traditional Cham dance, performed during Buddhist festivals, beautifully showcased the spiritual and cultural richness of the tradition.

In his inaugural address, Mayor Tom Aditya emphasized the importance of interfaith dialogue in today’s world and appreciated the efforts of the organizers in creating a platform for peaceful engagement and shared learning.

On 6th February 2022, the Chavara Cultural Centre, Delhi continued its week-long international webinar series celebrating World Interfaith Harmony Week. The sixth day focused on Buddhism and the Baha’i Faith, highlighting their teachings on love, truth, justice, equality, and fraternity, and their contribution to strengthening interfaith relationships and mutual understanding.
