National Micro Drama Festival – Season 5

The Chavara Cultural Centre, New Delhi, was pleased to associate with the National Micro Drama Festival – Season 5 (Thespis 5), a distinguished platform celebrating the art of theatre and creative expression. Held at the LTG Auditorium, the festival brought together emerging artists, theatre enthusiasts, and cultural organisations committed to meaningful storytelling through performance.

The association of Chavara Cultural Centre with the festival draws inspiration from the rich literary and cultural legacy of its patron saint, St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, a pioneering figure in Indian drama and literature. His Ten Eclogues (Shepherds’ Plays) (1856–1858), regarded as the first-ever play written in an Indian language, and Anasthasyayude Rakthasakshyam (1862), the first Malayalam narrative poem, stand as timeless contributions to India’s artistic heritage.

Guided by this legacy, the Centre recognises theatre as more than performance—it is a powerful medium for dialogue, ethical reflection, and social transformation. The festival provided a vibrant space for artists to explore contemporary themes while engaging audiences in thoughtful cultural exchange.

Through this collaboration, the Chavara Cultural Centre reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing the performing arts as instruments of human development, community engagement, and creative dialogue.
