“Peace Begins When We Start Celebrating the Other”

Rev. Dr. Fr. Roby Kannamchirayil CMI, Director of Chavara Cultural Centre, Delhi, served as the distinguished Catholic representative and speaker at the Global Justice, Love & Peace Summit 2025 held in Dubai on 12th and 13th April 2025. Amid an extraordinary gathering of global leaders, Nobel Peace Laureates, royal dignitaries, spiritual icons, policymakers, jurists, and peace advocates, Fr. Roby stood out as the only Catholic priest representing the Catholic faith on a truly international platform.

The summit was chaired by Dr. Huzaifa Khorakiwala, and brought together eminent personalities including Houcine Abbasi (Nobel Peace Laureate, Tunisia); Oscar Arias Sánchez (Former President of Costa Rica & Nobel Peace Laureate); Ouided Bouchamaoui (Nobel Peace Laureate, Tunisia); Adestaban Bernousse (Human Rights Activist & Nobel Peace Laureate); distinguished jurists such as Justice Sie-A-Nyene Gyapay Yuoh, Chief Justice of Liberia; global diplomats including Ambassador K. P. Fabian; religious leaders such as Sri Sri Ravi Shankar; as well as political leaders, industrialists, artists, and representatives from more than 70 nations.

His participation placed Chavara Cultural Centre alongside world-renowned figures from governments, royal families, interfaith councils, and global peace institutions.

In his address titled “Peace Begins When We Start Celebrating the Other,” Fr. Roby emphasized that authentic peace is not merely tolerance, but active celebration of diversity rooted in dignity and mutual respect. Drawing from the vision of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, he highlighted education, interreligious dialogue, and compassionate leadership as essential pillars for global harmony.

Throughout the summit, Fr. Roby engaged in high-level discussions and collaborative sessions with leaders from Islam, Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism, Sikhism, Buddhism, Bahá’í Faith, and secular peace movements, strengthening global partnerships and reinforcing India’s long-standing tradition of unity in diversity.

The summit powerfully showcased the Chavara Cultural Centre’s expanding global presence and reaffirmed its commitment to being a beacon of dialogue, reconciliation, and peacebuilding on the international stage.
