In Remembrance of Prof. M. K. Sanoo

In a deeply reverential tribute to an eminent scholar, teacher, and literary visionary, the Chavara Cultural Centre, New Delhi, in collaboration with the Delhi Malayalee Association (DMA), organised “Sanoo Sandhya” in remembrance of Prof. M. K. Sanoo (27 October 1928 – 2 August 2025).

The solemn evening commenced with a floral tribute to the photograph of Prof. Sanoo, symbolising collective gratitude for his life and legacy. This was followed by a moment of silent prayer, uniting the gathering in reflection and respect for a towering intellectual who inspired generations through his writings and public engagement.

The Inaugural Address by Shri John Brittas, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, underscored the scholar’s commitment to truth, scholarship, and democratic values, describing him as a bridge between tradition and modernity.

Delivering the Keynote Address, Shri Aneish P. Rajan, Director, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, spoke on the national significance of Prof. Sanoo’s contributions to India’s cultural and intellectual life.

The evening brought together writers, academicians, diplomats, community leaders, and admirers in an atmosphere marked by dignity, gratitude, and shared memory. Personal tributes and reflections enriched the gathering, transforming it from a memorial into a celebration of a life devoted to scholarship and social conscience.

Sanoo Sandhya stood not merely as a remembrance, but as a renewed commitment to carry forward the values Prof. M. K. Sanoo embodied, integrity, intellectual courage, cultural rootedness, and service to society. The program concluded with a collective resolve to preserve his legacy through continued dialogue, literary engagement, and cultural reflection.
