Inter-Religious & Ecumenical Christmas Celebration

On 14th December 2024, the Chavara Cultural Centre, Delhi, in association with the Catholic Rehabilitation Centers in India, organized Kristu Mahotsav 2024, an inter-religious ecumenical Christmas celebration centered on the inspiring theme “Include Everyone, Exclude None.” The event brought together nine religious representatives from diverse faith traditions, along with distinguished guests and social leaders, to promote love, inclusion, and universal fraternity.

Rev. Dr. Fr. Roby Kannamchirayil CMI, Director of the Chavara Cultural Centre, delivered the welcome address, highlighting Christmas as a call to humanity — a celebration that transcends boundaries and invites all to embrace compassion and solidarity. The gathering aimed to deepen mutual respect and acceptance among religious communities through dialogue and shared spiritual values.

The celebration was graced by eminent dignitaries including Dr. Mallika Nadda, President of Special Olympics Bharat, whose presence underscored the importance of inclusion and empowerment of specially-abled individuals, and Shri George Kurien, who extended his support to the noble cause of social integration and service. The presence of nine religious leaders further strengthened the spirit of interfaith harmony, symbolizing unity in diversity.

A central focus of the evening was the participation of specially-abled and underprivileged children from institutions across the country. Organizations such as Jandara Mariam Naga (Ghaziabad), Unnan Training Center, PRATEEK, St. Alfonsa Institute of Special Education, St. Thomas Hope School, Palana, Holy Family Asha Niwas, Deepti Foundation, Don Bosco Ashalayam, Prem Dham Ashram, Prajyot Social Service Society, Ashaad, Missionaries of Charity

– Nirmala Shishu Bhavan, Deepti Ashram, and SEVA Siras presented heartwarming cultural performances. A special performance by magician Mr. Rajiv added joy and excitement to the celebration.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Fr. Joy Puthussery CMI, Superior of CMI Bhavan, expressing heartfelt gratitude to all dignitaries, religious representatives, performers, volunteers, and organizers for making the event a remarkable success.

Kristu Mahotsav 2024 once again stood as a powerful testimony to the Chavara Cultural Centre’s mission of building an inclusive society where every individual — especially the most vulnerable — is embraced in the spirit of peace, compassion, and shared humanity.
