On 25th August 2021, the Chavara Cultural Centre, Delhi organized an interreligious webinar on the theme “Celebrating Diversity – Celebrating Bharath: The Role of Religion in Promoting Peace and Harmony in Society. ” The online gathering brought together eminent religious leaders, scholars, educationists, and public intellectuals to reflect on India’s rich pluralistic heritage and the responsibility of faith traditions in fostering unity. The webinar was inaugurated by His Excellency Archbishop Felix Machado, Secretary General, CBCI. The Presidential Address was delivered by Rev. Dr. Thomas Chathamparambil CMI, Prior General, while the Keynote Address was presented by Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose, IAS, Member of the National Commission for Minorities (Govt. of India). Their reflections emphasized unity in diversity as the core strength of Indian civilization. The event was further enriched by the presence and contributions of distinguished speakers including Rev. Dr. Martin Mallath CMI, Dr. M. Abdul Salam, Tenzin Gurmey Rinpoche, Harbinder Kaur, Rabbi Ezekiel Isaac Malekar, Dr. Homi B. Dalla, Dr. A.K. Merchant, and S.P. Malini, representing various religious and educational institutions. The webinar served as a meaningful platform for dialogue, reinforcing the shared values of love, justice, fraternity, and mutual respect across faith traditions. It concluded with a renewed commitment to building a more harmonious and inclusive society through collective effort and understanding.
