On 28 September 2021, the Chavara Cultural Centre, Delhi hosted the online webinar titled “Celebrating Diversity – Celebrating Bharath, ” a cultural and philosophical reflection on the transformative power of art in promoting peace and harmony. Conducted in virtual mode, the programme brought together artists, scholars, and cultural enthusiasts from across the country to celebrate India’s rich artistic heritage and its role in fostering unity amidst diversity. The webinar highlighted the Centre’s mission of promoting peace and interreligious harmony through art, literature, and cultural interaction. Speakers emphasized that art—whether expressed through classical dance, folk traditions, music, painting, or performance—is a universal language that bridges differences and nurtures understanding. They reflected on how traditional Indian art forms embody values of compassion, balance, and coexistence, serving as powerful tools for reconciliation and social harmony. The event was inaugurated by Kalamandalam Ibrahimsha, renowned artist and choreographer, whose presence symbolized the deep connection between cultural preservation and peace-building. Special guests, including Dr. Vinod Jain and artists from diverse regions of India, shared insights on how creative expression strengthens national integration and celebrates India’s pluralistic identity. A philosophical reflection during the webinar explored how art connects individuals to their inner selves and cultivates a sense of oneness, ultimately contributing to a more peaceful society. The programme concluded with a video presentation of a traditional Kachery by Dr. P. P. Raveendran, showcasing the depth and spiritual resonance of Indian classical music. The online webinar “Celebrating Diversity – Celebrating Bharath” reaffirmed the Chavara Cultural Centre’s commitment to nurturing harmony through cultural appreciation, demonstrating that even in a virtual space, art has the power to unite hearts and minds across boundaries.
