Tribute to Swami Sadhashivanandha & Reflections on Hinduism

Drawing inspiration from Swami Vivekananda’s vision, the programme emphasized the idea of a universal religion as the harmonious integration of all faiths. It affirmed that the essence of spiritual life lies in recognizing the divine within oneself and serving others with compassion — fostering a global family rooted in mutual respect and shared humanity.

The tribute to Swami Sadhashivanandha and the reflections on Hinduism reaffirmed the Chavara Cultural Centre’s commitment to interreligious dialogue and the promotion of unity in diversity through understanding and shared spiritual values.

The programme reflected on the broad and inclusive understanding of Hinduism, described not as a single structured religion but as a “Parliament of Religions” — an eternal spiritual tradition without a specific founder or historical beginning. The speaker emphasized that Hinduism represents a living continuum of diverse philosophies and practices unified by a shared quest for truth.

Key principles of Hindu thought were explored, including the four fundamental goals of life: Dharma (righteous conduct), Artha (material well-being), Kama (fulfillment of desires), and Moksha (liberation). The discussion also highlighted the four Ashrams, or stages of life — Brahmacharya (student life), Grihastha (householder life), Vanaprastha (retirement), and Sannyasa (renunciation) — illustrating a holistic approach to spiritual and social development.

The presentation further introduced the four Yogas — Karma Yoga (selfless action), Bhakti Yoga (devotion), Raja Yoga (meditation), and Jnana Yoga (knowledge) — as universal paths applicable across religious traditions. These were portrayed as practical disciplines guiding individuals toward inner transformation and harmony.

On 1 February 2023, as part of the global observance of World Interfaith Harmony Week, the Chavara Cultural Centre, Delhi presented a special tribute to Swami Sadhashivanandha, highlighting the spiritual depth and universal vision of Hinduism.
