Rev. Fr. Dr. Roby Kannamchirayil CMI represented India and the Chavara Cultural Centre, Delhi at the 7th Buddhist–Christian Colloquium held from 14–16 November 2023 at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, Thailand. The international gathering was organized under the theme “Karuna and Agape in Dialogue for Healing a Wounded Humanity and the Earth.”

The colloquium brought together eminent Buddhist monks, Christian bishops, theologians, scholars, and interfaith leaders from across the world to reflect on compassion (Karuna) and self-giving love (Agape) as transformative spiritual values capable of addressing global crises, social divisions, and ecological challenges.

Fr. Roby presented scholarly papers on “A NARRATIVE OF HEALING HUMAN AND ECOLOGICAL WOUNDS FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF INTERRELIGIOUS DIALOGUE”. His participation reflected India’s longstanding tradition of pluralism and coexistence.

The sessions included theological reflections, panel discussions, and cultural exchanges aimed at deepening mutual understanding between Buddhist and Christian traditions. The dialogue emphasized shared commitments to compassion, healing, environmental responsibility, and the dignity of all life.

Fr. Roby’s presence at the colloquium strengthened the global visibility of the Chavara Cultural Centre’s mission and reaffirmed its commitment to international interreligious collaboration for peace and reconciliation.
